Low Income/Subsidized Private Rental Housing
Conventional Housing Program provides housing in city-owned housing units for families, older adults, and people with disabilities on low-income. Includes family units and efficiency apartments. Section 8 Housing Program provides rent subsidies for private houses, apartments, and mobile homes to families, older adults, and people with disabilities on low income. Housing assistance payments are made to owners of privately-owned housing on behalf of the tenant. Rent subsidy payments cover the difference between the contract rent and the amount that families contribute.
Provides critical home repair for homeowners on low income. Services include exterior home repair, painting, and cleaning.
Provides emergency financial assistance for a limited amount of people in need throughout Pima County. Includes assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, prescriptions, birth certificate and identification card fees, and work-related expenses such as bus passes and gas vouchers. New funds available at the beginning of each month.
Provides for the construction of new homes from both Community funded sources (RHIP) and Federal funded sources (NAHASDA). Provides for the repair and maintenance of existing stock of housing built previously from Federal funding sources. Provides for the management of Rental Housing built and maintained through Federal funding and implementation of Community policies on said rental units. Provides for the awareness education to tenants of housing regarding drugs, violence and gangs within the Community. Serve rental and homeownership tenants by annual certifications and inspections. Provides housing counseling services, and intake for eligibility for housing assistance.
Provides coordination of services through referrals which may include, but is not limited to, financial empowerment classes, housing rehabilitation, weatherization services, and repair or replacement of appliances. Provides housing and utilities deposit and payment assistance, including senior recertification. Offers free menstrual products and diapers. **Rental assistance is first come first served beginning on the first of the month**

Provides personal finance education and offers Individual Development Accounts (IDA) with matched funds to pay for education at a Maricopa Community College.

Services are provided in the form of a grant or a forgivable loan. The forgivable loan will require a lien be placed on the home for a specified period of time

Provides public housing in project-based apartment complexes and Section 8 rent subsidies for various apartment complexes to people on low income. Applicants are placed on a waiting list until assistance is available.

Provides public housing in project-based apartment complexes for people on very low income. Applicants are placed on a waiting list until assistance is available.
Administers residential and business electric services in the Phoenix metro area and in other communities across Arizona. Performs volunteer and community services throughout Arizona. Also partners with local community agencies to assist with current or past-due APS bills, as well as a Weatherization Assistance program.
