Educates parents with children ages 5 and younger about the importance of early literacy and how they can build skills in their children to help them enter school ready to learn.
Provides in-home support and parenting education for families who are expecting a baby or have a young child. The goal is to promote child development, early literacy, increase positive parent-child interaction, and enhance family functioning. There is a special component for parents with young children who have developmental concerns that may not qualify for early intervention services.
Provides in-school reading tutoring for elementary school students
Library loans books, e-books, audio books, large print materials, videotapes, CDs, and DVDs. Reference desk provides research assistance and materials for use in the library only. Services include story time for children, computer classes, literacy programs for adults and children, and interlibrary loans. Offers copy machine, printer, Wi-Fi wireless access, and public computers with Internet access.
Offers services to families with preschool children ages 3-4. Parents/guardians must take ESL or GED classes, work in the classrooms, and attend parenting workshops. Preference given to families with preschoolers determined by interview to be in need of literacy training.

Provides home visitation program for pregnant women and families with newborns. The goal is to promote child development and school readiness, enhance parent-child relationships, and increase self-sufficiency. Program is voluntary.
Works with medical providers to integrate reading into their pediatric practices. Gives them books to share with young patients, and encourages them to advise families about the importance of reading with their children.
